About the project

The Kaskia Wellbeing Block is being developed to meet future housing, care and community living needs in the heart of Turku.

It will combine homes, wellbeing services and shared spaces – creating a natural meeting place for everyday life.

The project is being developed by Stiftelsen Eschnerska Frilasarettet, a Turku-based foundation, in collaboration with C.G. Sundell’s Foundation.

Construction began in 2025, with the first buildings scheduled for completion in 2027.

Latest updates

Piling and blasting works continue – next blasting in week 10

Construction update weeks 9–10

Ground and foundation works at the Kaskia wellbeing block continue during weeks 9–10.

According to the current plan, blasting works will be carried out in the future parking facility on Tuesday 3 March 2026. During the day (8 am–6 pm), 1–2 blasts will be executed. Warning signals (several short sound signals) will be given before each blast. The blasts are short and supervised by experts. Vibrations are continuously measured and recorded.

After this phase, there will be an estimated four-week break without blasting. According to the current assessment, blasting will resume during weeks 13–14. Most of the blasting work has already been completed.

Piling works continue on both sides of the construction site.

Piling may cause temporary noise and vibrations to nearby properties. Piling is carried out on weekdays between 8 am and 6 pm, although the working day on site starts at 7 am. Other ground works are ongoing and rock and soil materials are transported away from the site. Ground works will continue throughout the spring. Construction of the parking facility is expected to begin in May.

Interior construction continues in parallel with demolition works in both the hospital building and the tower building.

We thank our neighbours for their patience during the construction period.
