Construction site update for weeks 35–36
The first concrete pour for the parking garage roof slab, originally scheduled for 18 August, has been postponed. According to the current estimate, the pour will take place during week 35 or 36. We will provide an update on the website as soon as the exact date has been confirmed.
The concrete pour is a technically demanding and continuous phase of work, which is why work will exceptionally begin as early as 6:00 a.m. The aim is to complete the pour on the same day, by approximately 8:00 p.m. There will be more traffic than usual to and from the construction site on the day of the pour due to concrete deliveries.
Work on the parking garage is continuing simultaneously in several areas. Rock near the crane is being removed primarily by mechanical breaking using a hydraulic hammer. This work will cause noise and some vibration. If the rock cannot be removed using this method, blasting will be required, which may also cause noise and vibration. Construction of the groundwater barrier and rock grouting are continuing.
“Construction of the parking garage is one of the most technically demanding phases of the project. The work is progressing in stages, and the solutions are being refined as construction proceeds. Work in the other parts of the construction site is currently progressing well,” says Matti Koivu, Site Manager at Lujatalo.
Tower Building façade work nearing completion
The façade work on the Tower Building is nearing completion and is expected to be finished by early September at the latest. The colour scheme for the façade has been planned in cooperation with, among others, the museum authorities.
Around 60 people are currently working on the construction site each day, with work taking place simultaneously in the parking garage, the Tower Building and the premises of the future health and social services centre.
