Construction site update for weeks 17–18
Groundworks and foundation works, as well as the renovation of the buildings, continue at the Kaskia Wellbeing Block construction site.
Drilled piling for the parking facility continues on weekdays between 8:00 and 18:00. Installation of the sheet pile wall will begin on Itäinen Pitkäkatu once the drilled pile wall in the area is completed. After this, work will proceed with steel piling for the foundations of the new residential building on the inner courtyard.
– The goal is to complete all piling works by Midsummer, says site manager Matti Koivu from Lujatalo.
Blasting works are in their final phase, and the last blasts are estimated to take place during weeks 19–20. Due to cracks and fissures in the bedrock, the exact schedule cannot yet be confirmed. The rock is being sealed by grouting before blasting continues.
– We will provide more detailed information on the blasting schedule as soon as it is confirmed, Koivu adds.
Inside the buildings, construction and demolition work continues in phases and in different sections. Demolition work in the tower building is nearing completion. Currently, the façade plaster is being removed, and the building will be re-rendered during the summer.
Work at the site will continue throughout the summer. Activity will slow down during weeks 28–29 due to summer holidays.
